We’ve made new friends from all over the world this summer and we’ve reconnected with old ones. It has been a fabulous summer and we hope to see all of you next year. But before all that, we have to celebrate our last week at camp! Sunday was one of the best campfires of the summer, complete with our favorite Health Center and Snack Bar duo as hosts for campfire. Junior Boys outdid themselves with a classic youtube sketch and Junior girls took the stage with their impressive singing and acting talents; however riding camp took the show. Whinny the Horse made a surprise appearance at Campfire! The crowd was both shocked and thrilled!
Monday was a great first day of activities. One of the dance classes is already planning a performance for closing Campfire! A kayaking class played basketball in the red water and much much more! The Juniors were visited by the powder fairies down on the lower fields for a whimsical game of Powder Fairies. The challenges were difficult this week and the campers had to work hard to figure out what the secret sentence was in order to win the game. Up at the gym the seniors of SV3 and riding camp dueled in a game of noodle hockey. After several intense rounds the supervisors had the campers play a “silent” round in which the campers had to stay quite during the entire game and if they were caught making noise they would be tapped by a referee and have to sit down for 20 seconds before joining the game again. After several rounds we had to call it a night and head back to the villages for the evening to get ready for bed.

One of the beauties of camp is the atmosphere. At camp there is a silliness that isn’t found anywhere else! We sing songs and dance for no reason other than we can! All day we encourage kids to join us in goofy camp games like Laser Eyes or Pterodactyl! Even in the more tranquil moments there is a certain feeling to camp that doesn’t compare to anywhere else. An evening making s’mores under the stars or Closing Campfire where the week’s talents are revealed is when camp feels the campiest. The atmosphere of the Triple C vs CF soccer game was definitely fun! Last night the counselors played hard and the kids cheered for their favorite staff members! The halftime performance stole the show! It was both an impressive mixture of talented dancing and a surprise appearance from one of the Bens as the Sugar Plum Princess which had the crowd roaring with laughter. Of course the game was followed by a friendly meed and greet with Triple C and an ice cream social. Camp had a blast lastnight with the game! And of course there is more to come this week! Today is the dance! And kids and counselors are busy perfecting their costumes! The theme this evening is Pirates vs. Ninjas. Some are gathering eye-patches and makeshift parrots and others are perfecting their ninja star aim! All in all it is sure to be a great evening in the gym with some fun costumes and group dances! Nothing else quite compares to the atmosphere of the Color Wars at CF, making a second visit to camp this camp season! The colors, teams, and themes won’t be released until tomorrow! Campers will be surprised tomorrow morning at flag with the announcement of Color Wars! Be sure to check our Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for the most recent updates on Color Wars tomorrow at camp! Check by our photo galleries later for pictures of the campers in action!
This week we hit the ground running from activity to activity! After getting to know our international campers a little better at our Flag Ceremony on Sunday, the campers walked down the hill to Campfire! Our Supervisors and Counselors acted, sang, and captivated the audience with both new and classic camp skits. The Music Man skit made an appearance for the first time this summer with a special thanks to our CITs and their lovely supervisor! The tune was stuck in everyones heads the next day!
Monday went by way too quickly! The morning started at Flag where activities were introduced and directions were given to campers. Then after a long exciting day of activities like fencing, pottery wheel, and drama the campers gathered around for the announcement of the Evening Activities! With a dramatic drum roll and cheers of excitement, the Juniors were released to the lower fields for a game of Capture the Flag and the Seniors hiked up the hill toward the gym. The Juniors proved in a Girls vs. Boys game that they were evenly matched! Up in the gym, the Seniors battled to intense music that made the dodgeball game that much more fun! At the end of the evening a camper vs counselor game ended in the defeat of the counselors – much to the excitement of the campers.
As Tuesday rolls around there is even more for our campers to get excited about! Tomorrow is the much-anticipated Camp Friendship Soccer Match! The Counselors have been preparing for weeks and are excited to finally show off their hard work for campers and staff alike. Complete with a half-time show filled with dancing and music, it is sure to be an exciting event for the campers to cheer on their favorite counselors as they face another local camp! All week camp has been abuzz with anticipation for the game! Just one day more!
The end of the week brings even more fun and activities for our campers! Be sure to check back in on Thursday to see what kind of surprises await our campers this week!
